Gavel club-Junior toastmasters
open to kids below age 18.
a public speaking club and fully run and administered by children only.
Idea behind this is to promote effective listening and speaking skills.
Bhavita is planning to start the club in coming year based on the interest and response.
we can have bimonthly meetings and schedules coincide with school calendar years.
Community and Volunteering service opportunities
TUTA already is a sponsor of Adopt a highway program.
we are seeking volunteers to participate in this. More details to come in next few weeks.
Bhavita has more local volunteering tie ups and the service will be counted towards Presidential volunteering awards.
Diet/Nutrition/Emotional well being talks
Yes – these are for kids/youth too.
we want to do some interactive sessions where our children are shown to making right choices.
Healthy mind in a healthy body – both physically and mentally.
It can be food, habits. How will they get benefitted from staying positive etc..
The transitional years in middle school and high school, how to deal and cope with sudden changes and stress.
we have been hearing about depression and psychological issues a lot these days.
Bhavita is committed to bring a positive change in this area.
College planning seminars
Being first generation parents in America, many of us either are not aware or are faced with many choices when it comes to college planning.
we have plans to invite high school and college counselors and provide interactive sessions with them.
Essay and SOP writing workshops
This is very dreaded topic for many students (parents as well).
Our training geared us more towards quantitative and when it comes to writing – boom. !
But Essay submission/SOP is a must during college application process.
we are working on bringing in college students/professionals who can share tips and information on these.
